Mrs. Effie M. Ackman, 65 years old, a resident of the Neelys Landing community for 63 years, died at 5:10 a.m. today at the home of a son, James Ackman, at Fruitland where she was taken April 8. She had been in ill health for several years.

Prayer services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 at the Haman Funeral Home after which the body will be taken to New Bethel Baptist Church near Neelys Landing for services at 2 o'clock. Rev. A. J. Langston of the Southside Baptist Church conduct both services. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Ackman leaves seven sons, Barrett Ackman of Neelys Landing, Wilson Ackman of Ste. Genevieve, James Ackman and Herbert Ackman of Fruitland, August Ackman, Robert Ackman, and Clifford Ackman, all of Cape Girardeau; 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Born at Birds Point on Dec. 31, 1885 to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Foster, she moved to Neelys Landing with her parents when 2 years old. Mrs. Ackman was married to Thomas Ackman on Feb. 3, 1904. He died on Mar. 17, 1944. She was a member of New Bethel Church.
