Obituary, THE GRENADA DAILY STAR, JULY 26, 1946

Mrs. Margaret Head Atkinson, wife of the late E.L.Atkinson,
Sr., died Wednesday evening in Grenada Hospital,after a brief illness. Mrs. Atkinson resided near Holcomb, was 81 years old, and enjoyed a wide circle of friends. Surviving relatives include a son, E.L.Atkinson, Jackson; three daughters, Misses Loree and Ethel Atkinson, Pensacola,FL; Mrs. F.B.Scott, Holcomb; two sisters, Mrs. Albert Anderson, Miami, FL: Mrs. W.R.Johnson, Tie Plant, MS; six grandchildren, Mrs N.E.Little, Davis, CA, Mrs. Joe Lovelace, Waco, TX; Miss Thelma Jean Scott, Holcomb; Jack and Bobby Atkinson, Carrollton, MS. Funeral services were conducted by H.L. Smith, Methodist Pastor of Holcomb. Burial in Sparta Cemetery, three o'clock this afternoon, Thursday, July 26, 1946.

Margaret Allen Head, wife of Eugene Atkinson was always called by her nickmane, Maggie. She was a homemaker and mother. Her grand children remember her as a wonderful cook, especially for her baking. She was generous and unselfish with everyone. She nurtured children and adult members, when they needed shelter; she welcomed them. She helped to raise her nephews, Clyde and Clarence Head, twin boys, after their mother, Sue Helen Clark Head, died when they were twelve. Maggie died of heart trouble July 26, 1946. She was a great lady.
