Mrs. Ruth Edna Romel, 78, who formerly lived at Ninth and Spring Streets here, died at 6:13 last night at Fountainview Terrace Nursing Home, La Porte, after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Carlisle Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold J. knappe officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Vemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home tomorrow from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until the services. A resident here for 52 years, Mrs. Romel was born in Marshall County, Ind., Jan. 4, 1896, the daughter of William and Minnie Butcher Anders. She had worked for Montgomery Ward for 12 years before her retirement. On Dec. 5, 1922, she was married in South Bend to Arthur Rommel, who died Oct. 23, 1956. Survivors include at step-daughter, Mrs. Eleanor Kubsch, this city, and two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Rachor, this city, and Mrs. Edith Miller, Bremen, Ind. Mrs. Romel was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
