William Lawson Son of Thomas and Ann Lawson Durham County, England. Husband of Emma Jones Lawson, father of William, Mariah, Jennie, Isabelle,Alice, Joseph, Annie,James, John and Robert. William and his wife Emma lived in Terra Alta, Preston County, West Virginia close to the railroad tracks. He would occasionally pick up pieces of coal that had bounced out of the train cars. William was very hard of hearing,, and as he was about to cross over the railroad tracks either to pick up coal,, or go to his daughter Isabelle Lawson Hartman's house,, he stepped from behind a building onto the tracks,, and in front of a oncoming train. He was killed as a result of this.
