John Carl Saathoff, 91, of Eugene, OR. died Jan. 5 of age-related causes. John was born May 4, 1912, in Fairfield, NE, to Charles and Reka Alberts Saathoff. He married Lulu Bottorff in Grand Island, NE, on March 27, 1935.He lived in Nebraska until 1946, when he moved to Springfield. He settled in Eugene in 2001. He worked at McKesson-Robbins Wholesale Drugs. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Springfield. His interests included fishing and traveling. He also enjoyed people and telling stories. He especially enjoyed gardening and will be remembered for his "green thumb." Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Judy Walker of Eugene, Angie Howbert of Bend and Deanna Hughes of Beaverton; a sister, Evelyn Elye of Roseburg; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
