Conrad "Connie" Martin Christopherson Sr., 67, Guthrie, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2000, at his home. Funeral services were at Evangelical Covenant Church in Bemidji. Interment will be at Guthrie Cemetery in Guthrie.

He was born April 17, 1933, to Florence (Hertling Westeberg) and Martin Christopherson in Guthrie where he attended grade school. He graduated from Bemidji High School in 1951. In 1952, he enlisted in the U.S. Army for four years, serving for 16 months in Korea.

On April 30, 1955, he married Yvonne Buness at her parents' home in Laporte. While completing his military service, they made their first home in Fitchburg, Mass. Their subsequent homes were in Guthrie Bemidji, and Northome. In 1970 they returned to the Guthrie area to his grandparents home place where they now lived.

Prior to his military service, he worked for the railroad. He then was employed by Paul Bunyan Telephone Cooperative of Bemidji for 35 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the volunteer fire department of Northome for 10 years, a previous member of Cass Lake American Legion Post 284 and a member of Evangelical Covenant Church in Bemidji.

He spent many years playing fast pitch softball, was an avid fisherman and golfer and enjoyed mowing his lawn. After a six and one-half month hospitalization due to complications of heart bypass surgery, he was brought home on Tuesday and died Wednesday with his family present.

Survivors include his wife: his mother and stepfather, Runar Westeberg, Walker; a brother, Cleo (Dee) Christopherson, Bemidji; four daughters, Cindy (fiancé Louis Proulx) Hanson, Cathy Stinar and Kristie (Tom) Lindahl, all of Guthrie, Sherry (Rick) Clyde, Laporte; two sons, Conrad (Linda) Christopherson Jr., Guthrie, Curt Christopherson, Walker; 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
