Mr. Adkins passed away at the age of 81 on Jan. 9, 2012, in Van.
Charles Eugene Adkins was born May 11, 1930, in Hope, Ark., to the late Olen S. "Dick" Adkins and Golden Mae Bullard Adkins and had been a resident of Van most of his life. He retired from LaGloria Oil & Gas and later worked as a rancher. He also served in the U.S. Navy, was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Adkins of Van; children, Eugene Adkins of Van, Judy Herring of Tyler and Debra Davie of Chandler; stepchildren, Arlon Nipp of Tyler, Buck Nipp of Brownsboro and Lisa Nipp of Rockport; grandchildren, Joshua, Stacey, Miranda, Jordan, Kaitlin, Tony, Robyn, Nick, Ashley, Joshua, Chelsea, Kristi, Kyle, BJ, Matthew, JD, Cody and Tori; and numerous great-grandchildren.
