Rita Fabek, Age 76, went to the Lord on Sunday, January 8, 2012.

She attended the Joliet Schools and graduated from St. Francis Academy 1952. She was retired from the City of Joliet with 36 years of service most of them as a City Collector. She was very active at the Cathedral of St. Raymond as a past president of the C.C.W., Cathedral Seniors (past treasure). She also has served on the Parish Council, Administrative Committee, Diocesan Peace and Justice Committee. Rita was once honored as C.C.W. 'Woman of the Year'. Rita and her daughter were very grateful to Regina Simmons for her excellent care and companionship, and the added support of her goddaughter, Mary Spata.

She is survived by her loving daughter Cheryl who was by her side. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Robert Fabek, sisters-in-law Dolores (Lola) Fabek and Marie Fabek. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins survive.

Rita was preceded in death by her husband Charles (1976); parents Robert and Ruth (nee Henneberry) Chidsey; sister and brother-in-law Joan (Joseph) Garbin, Paul and Anna Fabek, Victoria (Clarence) Wedic, Stephanie (Martin) Hotuyec, Michael (Loretta) Fabek, Ann (Andrew) Shepich, Catherine (Louis) Pounovich, Thomas Fabek and Martin Hotuyec.

Funeral services for Rita Fabek will be held Thursday January 12, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. from Tezak's Funeral Home to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus for a mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.

Interment to Resurrection Cemetery Romeoville.
