Mrs. C.J. Lund - Presbyterian Church.

March 20, 1919, when Nature was awakening to the beautiful springtide Maria Lund, wife of C.J. Lund, left this earthly life to live a live of service with God. We think of her as gone, but she has only preceded us to a better, fairer clime, to that Home where sorrows and troubles are unknown. The husband who loved her and the children who turned to her for comfort and help will not think of her as being in the grave. They know that her soul has ascended unto Christ, who redeemed her, into that sphere where all is joy and peace and the land of Death never enters. Mrs. Lund was a quiet, reserved woman, a good wife and loving mother. She will be missed in her large circle of relatives and friends.

Maria Christensen was born in Denmark Nov. 25, 1879. She came to this country with her parents in 1889 and settled at Orum, Neb. where they lived three years, after which they moved to Calhoun. She was united in marriage to C.J. Lund on Sept. 8, 1899. To this union ten children were born, five boys and five girls, one daughter preceding the mother in death, in infancy.

About a month ago the family moved to a farm near Craig. While unpacking some fruit, Mrs. Lund's clothing touched an overheated stove and caught fire. She was severely burned, and although everything that loving hands and hearts could do was done for her, the Grim Reaper had claimed her for his own.

Funeral services were held Sunday, March 30, at the home, and also at the Calhoun Presbyterian church, Rev. Stoner officiating. The church was not large enough to accommodate the friends who gathered to pay the last tribute of respect to the deceased. Interment was made in the Calhoun Cemetery, the casket being covered with beautiful flowers.
