Jacob J. "Jake" Alig, age 72, of Metamora, Ill., passed away at 4:38 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born June 10, 1939, in Metamora, Ill., to Joseph and Theresa (Schuab) Alig. He married Patricia A. (Guglielmetti) Alig on Feb. 6, 1965, in Ladd, Ill. She passed away July 2, 2009.

Surviving are his children, Jeff Alig of Ladd, Ill., and Michelle (John) Geurink of Germantown Hills, Ill., and grandchildren, Kelsey and Evan Alig and Lauren and Nathan Geurink. Jake is also survived by sisters, Rosemary Taylor, Betty Kapraun, Carina (Earl) Stotler, Josephine (Bill) Trotter and Joanie (Lou) Turner, all of Metamora, and brother-in-law, Ed Kapraun of Benson, Ill.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Rita Kapraun.

Jake had worked at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in maintenance with the Bio Medical Engineering Division and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Metamora.

Cremation rites will be accorded after the Mass, with burial of ashes at a later date.
