SHAFFER -- Ralph E. Sr., 94, of 1643 Florida Ave., Johnstown, died March 15, 1998, at home. Born Nov. 5, 1903, in Schellsburg, son of the late Quincy E. and Mary Jane (Crawford) Shaffer. Also preceded in death by brothers: Blair, Roy, John and William; and sister, Anna Mae Bowser.

Survived by wife of 71 years, the former Gladys Harr, celebrating their 71st anniversary on March 6, 1998, and sons: Ralph E. Jr., married to the former Jeannine Krivanek, Sacramento, Calif., and Larry W., married to the former Brenda Carroll, N. Palm Beach, Fla.; also five grandchildren and one great-grandson. Brother of Dorothy Anderson, Hollidaysburg, and Chester, of Selinsgrove.

Mr. Shaffer was the former owner-operator of Ralph E. Shaffer Oil Co., Johnstown. Member of Blue Lodge 5338, F&AM Williamsport Consistory. Life member of Tall Cedars of Lebanon, and Calvary Untied Methodist Church, Windber, where service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, the Rev. Howard Greenfield, will officiate. Entombment in Richland Cemetery Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Calvary UMC Building Fund in memory of Mr. Shaffer. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Meek Funeral Home Inc., Windber.
