Pedro (real name unknown) met his demise on September 13, 1876. He had been employed in Sidney, Nebraska as a hired hand with a local cattle outfit. Newspapers of the day reported that Pedro had been recently fired for drunkenness and that he had disappeared from the area between September 1 and 6, 1876. Coincidentally, two horses had also disappeared from a local livery stable about the same time. Lawmen from Sidney tracked Pedro to Roscoe, Nebraska, where he had joined a band of Mexican cowboys. When confronted, Pedro began firing his gun at his apprehenders. The lawmen fired six shots at Pedro and he fell dead into the river.
