3 children died Tuesday afternoon when the family car crashed in a ditch as their mother attempted to prevent an infant from falling off a seat. The auto slammed into the ditch and turned over Sheriff James L. Butler said, on Highway 20, four miles west of Whitney. The victims were children of Mr. and Mrs. Angelo Martin of Whitney. They were Samuel, 5; Ernestine, 3; and Magdalene, 2. Mrs. Martin, 21, and the baby, four-months-old Matthew, suffered minor injuries.
