Born January 31, 1928, she was the daughter of Ralph and Edith (Barnhart) Asbury. She was raised and received her education in Winfield.
Flo was united in marriage to Mather "Hank" Hankins on June 16, 1946 at the Hicks Chapel Church. The couple made their first home near Dexter and moved to Winfield in 1947. The couple later lived in California but returned to Winfield in 1986. Mrs. Hankins worked part time at Mell's Café and MotoPhoto as well as for R.L. Polk Industries working for the Census Bureau for seven years. But she made her career as a homemaker, taking care of her family. Hank preceded Flo in death on June 11, 1997.
Flo was a member of Central Baptist Church in Winfield. She enjoyed doing puzzles and loved to quilt. She treasured time spent with her family.
Her family includes: Her son: Mark Alan Hankins and wife, Eva of Winfield; Her daughters: Elaine Davenport and husband, Rick of Daleville, Alabama; and Cindy Hartung of Winfield; Her sisters: Ruth Stevens and husband, Asa of Winfield; and Charlotte Cousins and husband, Bill of Haysville; Her grandchildren: Ross, Stephanie, Jennifer, Robert, Cole, Zavier and Ehan; Her great grandchildren: Tara, Matthew, Nicole, Michael, Elijah, Zachary, Logan, Enola, Bryson, and Hayden; and Her great-great grandson: Tayden.
In addition to her parents, Flo was preceded in death by her brothers, Stanley, Orva and Earl Asbury.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday morning, January 11, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 5 to 7 that evening.
A Memorial has been established in Mrs. Hankins name at Miles Funeral Service to help defray funeral expenses. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
