OBITUARY Iron River Reporter Sep 25 1923 "Injuries Prove Fatal To Woman: Mrs. Mary Rundquist Dies From Injuries Sustained In Auto Mishap"
Injuries sustained on Sunday, September 16 when she was pinned beneath an automobile which turned turtle near Watersmeet caused the death of Mrs. Oscar Rundquist at an Iron River hospital Friday evening [Sep 20].
Mr. and Mrs. Rundquist were enroute to Rockland, Michigan, their former home, when their car left the road and turned over. Mrs. Rundquist's leg was broken and it was known she was hurt internally. She was hurried to an Iron River hospital the evening of the accident, but slight hopes were held out for her recovery. Death followed soon after an operation.
She was born in Finland on July 27, 1869 and was 54 years old. For 17 years she had been a resident of Rockland, Michigan although her husband recently took a position at the Homer mine. It was after visiting here that the party started their return to Rockland.
Three daughters besides a husband survive. They are Anna of Wyoming, Elvira of Chicago, and Irene of Rockland, all of whom will be present at the funeral which will be held tomorrow afternoon from the Zion Evangelical Lutheran church of Iron River with the Rev. J. Gustafson in charge.
