Cecilia R. Cassidy, 85, a life long resident of Cleveland, N.M. went to be with our Lord peacefully on Friday December 30, 2011 at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Cleveland, on January 23, 1926 to the late Pedro and Josefita Romero. She was united in marriage on August 25, 1956 to her late husband James J. Cassidy Jr. Cecilia was a life long home maker who loved raising her children. She devoted her whole life to her family. She was a Foster Grandparent with the Mora Schools. In 1996 she was selected as care giver of the year by THC of Albuquerque for taking care of both her mother and her husband. She was an election official in Mora County for many years. A life long catholic, she was a member of the San Antonio Church in Cleveland and the Saint Gertrude's church in Mora. She is preceded in death by her parents Pedro and Josefita Romero, and husband James J. Cassidy Jr., her sisters Rose, Angie, and brothers Manuel and Bernie. She is survived by her loving children, Selso Romero, Nora J. Romero, (Michael Berg), Michael Cassidy(Mell), Bertha Cassidy, Mark Cassidy(Geri), Matthew Cassidy (Theresa), and Jim Cassidy(Anita). She was blessed with 19 grandchildren: Alberta(Anthony), Tony(Melissa), RoseAnn(Everett), Marissa, Natalia(Randy), Jeanette(Jason), Christopher(Tina), Heather(Manuel), Jason, Craig, Beverlee, Jaclyn(Jerome), Derek(Tasha), Jade, Paige(Tony), Cody, James, Mercedes, and Eric. She had 30 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Rosary devotional services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday January 3 at the St. Gertrude's church in Mora. Mass and funeral services will take place on Wednesday January 4 at 10:00 A.M. at the St. Gertrude's church with Father James Sanchez and as celebrant. Interment will follow at the St. Anthony Cemetery at the Cassidy family Plot in Cleveland. Serving as casket bearers will be her sons Michael, Mark, Matthew, Jim Cassidy, Selso and Tony Romero.
