Annie S. Lindsey was born in Caroline County, Va., on July 20, 1929. She was one of eleven children born to Carey and Pattie Samuel. Her parents and eight of her siblings preceded her in death.

On December 21, 2011, Annie quietly slipped away to her eternal home at Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center.

Annie attended Caroline County public schools. She married Robert E. Lindsey and to that union a baby boy was born, David "Tony" Lindsey. She moved to Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. where she lived and worked as a domestic worker for many years. She later retired from the Treasury Dept. in Washington, D.C. after 25 years of service. After returning to Caroline and still wanting to care for others, she sought part-time employment through the Dept. of Social Services as a caretaker. For 18 years she worked for and helped her good friend Bernard Childs until her health declined.

Annie joined St. James Baptist Church at an early age. She worked diligently and faithfully in the church. She served on the Usherboard Ministry, chairman of the Hospitality Committee, secretary of the Sunday School, treasurer of the Pastor's Aid Ministry, and President of the Deaconess Ministry. Her appointment to the Deaconess Ministry was one of the highlights of her life! She loved Pastor Baugham, and her church family. Annie also loved to cook, complete word/search puzzles, watch football, and game shows. Annie was an independent woman who could face all types of obstacles and challenges on her own with GOD by her side.

Deaconess Lindsey leaves to cherish her memory; one son, David "Tony" Lindsey of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Eunice Coleman of Milford and Mary E. Lindsey of Fredericksburg; one brother, James Samuel of Danville, Va.; two god-daughters, LaTesha and Casey, a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service was held Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at St. James Baptist Church, 19514 Sparta Road, Milford, Va., 22514.

Rev. Dr. Charles F. Baugham, Sr., Pastor officiated and delivered the eulogy.
