She was born in Galax, Va., May 20, 1926, a daughter of James and Johannah Perry Beck. She was formerly employed as an executive secretary with Alma Desk and High Point Chair. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Evangelical Church. She was a former member of the Eastern Star in Thomasville. In 1981 she married Gerald Charles Polke, who survives of the home.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Thomas Jones and his wife, Elizabeth, of Winston-Salem; a brother, Byron Beck of Charleston, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held 2 p.m. today at the Harold C. Davis Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor John Petry III. A private inurnment will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery.
