Lawrence James Adams, 88, of 414 N. Main St, Covington, died at 11:20 p.m. Wednesday in Piqua Memorial Medical Center of an apparent heart attack.
He was born Sept 22, 1898, in Miami County, to the late Arthur and Matilda Rench Adams Sr.
His wife, the former Stella Alexander, died Jan 16, 1984.
Mr Adams had been manager of the Tip Top Potato Chip Company in Troy for several years and previously was employed 18 years by the Pennsylvania Railroad.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs Frank Miller Jr (Jane), Covington; Mrs Kenneth Fourman (Kathleen), Springfield; one son, James Adams, Covington; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is one sister, Mrs Erla Minnich, Sidney. Nine brothers and sisters are deceased.
Mr Adams was a member of the Covington United Church of Christ more than 60 years, past master of Covington F&AM, past high priest of Covington Royal Arch masons and had served on the Covington Council and Board of Public Affairs for many years.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Bridges-Stocker Funeral Home, 160 N. High St, Covington, by the Rev Henry Reinewald, with burial in Highland Cemetery, Covington.
Calling hours at the funeral home are 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. There will be a Masonic service at 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
