Ethel M. Worthington Bennett, 87, formerly of the Senior Citizens Building, and Memorial Hospital Personal Care Home, North Towanda Township, Pa., died Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at the Skilled Nursing Unit of Memorial Hospital, Towanda, Pa. Born June 26, 1920 in Sonestown, Pa., she was a daughter of the late James Clayton Worthington and Jessie Bennett Worthington. Ethel owned and operated her farm in Liberty Corners for a number of years. She was a member and past president of the Monroe Hose Company Auxiliary in Monroeton and was a member of the North Towanda United Methodist Church. She loved to cook and enjoyed cooking for the Monroe Hose Company Auxiliary dinners. Ethel also enjoyed embroidery and crocheting. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Jo Ann and Boyd R. "Dick" Bennett of Monroeton; three grandchildren, Richard Scott Bennett and Denise Wells of Monroeton, Robin Rae Christensen and her husband John Christensen of South Weber, Utah, Brian Bennett and his wife Janine Bennett of Dryden, N.Y.; six great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Ashley Bennett, Clifton Park, N.Y., Jared Christensen and his wife Whitney Christensen of Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Jason Christensen of Ft. Jackson, S.C., Leighann Bennett and Taylor Bennett of Dryden, N.Y.; two great-great-granddaughters, Mattie and Regan Christensen of Okinawa, Japan; three sisters, Laverna Miller of Williamsport, Floye Walker of Stockton, Calif., Beatrice Petty of Deland, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Betty Worthington of Monroeton, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Maurice Bump, Richard Sick and Boyd Bennett; brothers, Guy and Earl Worthington; sisters, Ruth Dean, Elizabeth Hammer and Hanah Hewes. A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in the Rome Cemetery, Rome, Pa. Arrangements are under the direction of the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, Towanda, Pa. There are no calling hours. The family suggests that memorial contributions be directed to the Skilled Nursing Unit of Memorial Hospital, or to the Personal Care Home of Memorial Hospital, at 1 Hospital Drive, Towanda, Pa., 18848 In Ethel M.
