Marjorie Mildred Kienzle was born December 5, 1918 at Leona, Doniphan County, Kansas. She was the daughter of William Lewis Kienzle and Lydia Maria Scofield Kienzle.
She lived at Leona until she moved to Havensville, Kansas about 1925 with her family. She attended school in Havensville completing her elementary education there. She also helped her father in his businesses of retail grocer and restaurant owner/operator.
In 1932, her father died and she returned to Leona and resided in the family home which her parents owned prior to moving to Havensville.
Marjorie graduated from the Leona High School and married Lloyd C. Knecht on October 24, 1936. Marjorie and Lloyd had four children: Bonnie June, Betty Lou, Lloyd Leon and Frederick William.
Marjorie and Lloyd moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1941 and remained there during WWII, returning to Leona in 1948.
Marjorie and Lloyd graciously opened their home to Marjorie's mother, Lydia. Lydia lived with Marjorie and Lloyd for 14 years until her death in 1957.
Marjorie was a homemaker and tended a large garden and several flower beds. She was a cook for the Leona School System and later was a cook at the Collier Manor nursing home at Highland, Kansas.
Marjorie lived the rest of her life at Leona, except for a short time when she lived in Kansas City when Lloyd was in the hospital
Marjorie died on April 19, 1992 at the Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. She was buried in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, north of Leona, Kansas.

LEONA - Marjorie M. Knecht, 73 Leona, died Sunday, April 19, 1992, at a Kansas City Mo. hospital.
Mrs. Knecht was a cook at Collier Manor nursing home in Highland many years before she retired.
She was born Dec. 5, 1918, in [Leona], the daughter of William and Lydia Scofield Kienzle.
Mrs. Knecht was a member of the Bellevue United Methodist Church near Leona and the United Methodist Women.
Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie Park, Prairie Village, and Betty Bailes, Kansas City,Kan.; two sons, Lloyd L. Knecht, Olathe, and Fred W. Knecht, Topeka; a sister, Genevieve Vanderbilt, Joplin, Mo., 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Highland Mortuary in Highland. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Leona. Mrs. Knecht will lie in state after noon today at the mortuary where relatives and friends will meet from 9:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Basic Cancer Research and sent in care of the mortuary.

Marjorie's father, William changed his name back to the original name of Kienzle from Kinsley. However, he is buried under the name of Kinsley in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Leona.
