Leland Victor Bangerter, 91, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2011. He was born on December 11, 1920, in Woods Cross, Utah, a son of Alma and Gertrude Brooks Bangerter.

He graduated from Davis High School in 1938, then later attended Utah State University, receiving his Masters Degree.

Leland faithfully served his country during WWII in the Army Air Corps. He was a Flight Engineer on 33 bombing missions on a B-24 Bomber.

On August 30, 1949, Leland married the love of his life, VaLois Harris in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in numerous callings including: two bishoprics, High Council, Stake Sunday School President, as well as serving in five proselyting missions to; California, Auckland New Zealand, San Jose California, Ft. Lauderdale Florida, and Temple Square. He also served eight years as an Ordinance Worker in the Ogden Temple.

He taught Industrial Arts throughout the Weber School District, retiring after 33 years. Also taught Industrial Arts in Shelley Idaho for three years.

Leland enjoyed hunting, hiking, camping, fishing, loved the outdoors and had many stories to share. His passion was building and woodworking, and he was a finished carpenter. He was "Mr. Fix It", and helped everybody.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr.'s Jeffrey Call and Gregory Almony, and the nurses and staff at McKay-Dee Hospital and Heritage Park Care Center for their wonderful care.

Leland is survived by his wife, VaLois, and children; Wayne (Nora) Bangerter, Karla (Fred) DuVall, Gary (Nancy) Bangerter, Rayan (Allen) Webster, Nathan (Amy) Lambert, 10 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and eight siblings.

Funeral Services were held on Thursday, January 5, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., at the Lake View Ward 4900 South 2000 West, Roy, Utah.
