Alma H. Bangerter

Clinton -- Alma H. Bangerter, 84, died October 9, 1993 in Layton, Utah.

He was born July 12, 1909 in Bountiful, Utah to Alma and Gertrude Brooks Bangerter. He was the oldest of nine children. He attended Davis high School and graduated from Utah State Agricultural College in Logan with a degree in botany. A member of the U.S. Army Reserve, he served during World War II in the Pacific and retired with the rank of Lt. Colonel.

He married Eva York in 1931 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. The marriage later ended in divorce. In 1940, he married Helen Lenore Lone in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died in 1965.

After World War II, he worked as a civil servant first at the Ogden Arsenal until it closed, later at hill Air Force Base until he retirement. He lived in Clearfield, Utah from 1941 to 1983, when he moved to Clinton. During the time that he lived in Clearfield, he was widely known for his beautiful grape vineyard and orchard.

He was a high priest in the Clinton 12th Ward, Clinton Stake, of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as secretary to the high priest group.

He is survived by three children, Ruth and Meade Stirland of Reno, Nevada; Joyce and Eldon Kimball of Clearfield; and Lowell A. and Judy Bangerter of Laramie, Wyoming; three brothers, Arnold Bangerter of Bountiful, Neslin Bangerter of Heber City, Leland Bangerter of Roy (currently serving a LDS mission in Florida).; two sisters, Eva Miller and LaRene Kimber, both of Bountiful; 13 grandchildren, two step grandsons, and 22 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 13, 1993 at 11 a.m. at the Clinton LDS Stake Center, 2223 West 1800 North. Friends may call Tuesday, October 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist Clearfield Mortuary, 1050 South State Street, and at the Clinton Stake Center on Wednesday from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. Burial in the Bountiful City Cemetery.
