First marriage to Laurie J. Laine

Josephine Pardee, 96, passed away on Friday, April 27, 2001, at the Crystal Manor Nursing Home in Crystal Falls, where she had been a resident for seven years.
Josephine was born on Feb. 25, 1905, in Crystal Falls, daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Tureinen) Kangas.
From 1946-49, Josephine and other members of her family operated the Crystal Bakery. She was an early member of the Finnish Historical Society and was involved in creating the Finnish Historical Monument. She enjoyed writing poetry throughout her lifetime.
Josephine dedicated her early life to taking care of her husband, Lauri Laine, who had tuberculosis, and then to raising her children and her sister Lillian's children, Robert, William and Jeanne.
She is survived by two sons, Warren Laine of Flint and Lawrence Laine of Chesapeake, Va.; two sisters, Lillian Cook of Warren, lower Michigan, and Jean Fredrickson of Alabama; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Pardee of Lansing.
