Funeral For Retired Railroad Employee Planned Wednesday
Funeral services for J. H. Hendrix, 52, who was formerly employed by the Louisville & Nashville Railroad Company, will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock form the home of his sister, Mrs. R.C. Tinsley, at 2810 7th Street, with Dr. Horace G. Williams officiating, assisted by the Rev. Joel Lee Jones. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery by Jones and Spigener.
He died at Druid City Hospital this morning (Tuesday, September 23, 1941) after a prolonged illness. For the past several years Mr. Hendrix has made his home at 1735 Seventh Street. He worked with the railroad company until declining health forced him to retire.
Surviving Mr. Hendrix are his widow, Mrs. Wiltie Stokes Hendrix, two sisters, Mrs. P.W. Thames, and Mrs. Carter Tinsley of this city, three brothers, Beasey Hendrix of Tuscaloosa, D.O. Hendrix of Eldora, Ark., and D.D. Hendrix of Knoxville, Tenn.
Active pallbearers for the funeral will be J. Foster King, Morris Curry, Fayette Gaddy, Henry key, R.C. Morris and E.E. Jacobs.
Honorary pallbearers will be F.A. Rollins, Dr. J.H. Goode, J.H. Neilson, Roy Bishop, Murry Ray, James Pearson, Hardin D. Billingsley, Luther Davis, Sr., Pete Mathews, Preston Mathews, and W.J. Moore.
