Ruby Duvall McCullah was born August 27, 1923 to Sophia Villines Duvall and Zell Duvall in Hitchita, OK and lived there all her life. One of her favorite childhood memories was growing up on High Springs Mountain North of Hitchita. She graduated from Hitchita High School in 1941 and married Buck McCullah on June 2, 1941. She is lovingly survived by 3 children; Linda King (Roy), Lawrence McCullah (Linda), Sandy Pippin (Jerry). She has six grandchildren, Kim Davis (Tim), Kent King, Scott McCullah (Kim), Lauren Long (Ray), Chad Pippin, Shawna Pippin; eleven great grandchildren, Brooke, Madison King, Kayla Rush (Brandon), Kenley Davis (Kelly); Jackson, Joe, Jake McCullah; Emma, Abigail, Braden, Delanie Long and 2 great-great grandchildren, Keegan and Blakely Davis. One brother, Emmitt Duvall (Athaleen). 3 sisters in law, Louise Duvall, Lavon Duvall and Mary Sparks and her husband Joe; 1 brother-in-law, Wayne Patton and a host of nieces, nephews and a lifetime of friends. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, her parents, 5 brothers; Troy, Roy, Jyp, Junior, and Bob; 2 sisters, Ina McReynolds and Billie Hamilton; 3 sisters in law; Georgia, Helen, and Leoma Duvall; 2 brothers in law, J.D. McReynolds and Kenneth Hamilton. Ruby was a talented writer and many people enjoyed her articles in the Eufaula Indian Journal. She was the secretary for the Hitchita Rural Water department for many years. She also worked at Vandiver’s Hardware and Sharpe’s Department store in Checotah.
