DAVENPORT — Doris Jane Anderson, 83, formerly of Davenport, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at the home of her daughter in Fulton, Illinois.
Doris was born to Conrad Axel and Judith Pauline (Lundquist) Swanson on September 20, 1928, in Alta, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Bernard Hugo Anderson on January 25, 1948, in Summit, Illinois. He passed away on February 24, 1987.
Doris was the proud and loving mother of Devera (Robert) Wilbur, of Fulton, Illinois, Pamela (Gregory) Shanley of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Cynthia (Thomas) Stopulos, Bettendorf, and Dr. David (Stacey) Anderson of Anthem, Arizona. She was blessed with 16 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Doris is also survived by three sisters, Marian Anderson of New London, Margaret Huisman of Elmwood, Illinois, and Gloria (James) Delashmutt of Davenport. In addition to her husband, Doris was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, Helen Hires, Ruth Anderson, Judith Snyder, Evangeline Savage, and Bonnie Anker, and two brothers, Donald Swanson and Everett Swanson.
Doris graduated from Burlington High School in 1947. She placed a high value on providing for her family and she held several positions in the industries of Davenport until her retirement in the early 1970s.
Doris treasured her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to share cherished memories of picnics and walks in the park with them. Doris also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was always ready for a good game, especially cards. She will always be remembered for her love and tenderness.
Being a Christian was important to Doris. She was an avid reader of the Holy Bible and loved sharing meaningful verses with others.
Interment in Davenport Memorial Park.
