Isaac Medbury is the son of Nathaniel and Dorothy Brown Medbury. He married Lydia Sprague in 1752. In the summer of 1794 they moved to Chenango, NY with children and grandchildren and settled in New Berlin just three miles west of the Unadilla River on what is known as the Great Brook. The area was wilderness and he and his sons cleared the land for their homes and farms. Isaac was killed by a fall from a load of straw and his grave was the first in the new family cemetery. From the Book, History and genealogy of the Medbury family by Mrs James F. Medbury.

Isaac Medbury served in the Revolutionary War and was a private and later promoted to Sergeant in Captain Stephen Kimbell Company in Colonel Hitchcocks Regiment in eight months of service in 1775.
