1930 - Obituary - Mrs. Mary Ellen Brewer Dies at Bertrand
Mrs. Mary Ellen Brewer, born June 23rd, 1844, died December 27th, 1929, at the home of her son, G. D. (Lane) Brewer and Mrs. Brewer in the Armer District, MO. Mrs. Brewer fell three weeks ago and suffered a broken leg from which she suffered greatly. Some 15 minutes before her death, which occurred at 3:15 o'clock in the afternoon, she suffered a slight paralytic stroke.
Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon, December 29th, 1 o'clock p.m. at the Methodist Church in Bertrand. Rev. W. E. Hill, pastor of the church, officiated. Internment was made in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Brewer is survived by her son and a number of other relatives. Two brothers, Thos. Vowels of Wyatt and Bob Vowels of Sikeston attended the funeral and also Shelbourne Brewer of Cincinnati, OH.
Mrs. Brewer was the mother of the late Mr. Ben Brewer, who was a prominent citizen of this city, and she was also an aunt by marriage of the late Dr. Grimstad of Cairo, Ill.
A large concourse of people attended the funeral service.
