Melva Eckert Edwards, 91, died December 27, 2011. She was born February 9, 1920, in San Saba. She moved to Tom Green County as a child. She was the middle child of Lola and Jonah Eckert. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Rex Edwards, both parents and both sisters. She was a 1937 graduate of Miles High School. She worked 17 years for South Texas Life Insurance Company and 8 years for Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
She is survived by one son: Carson and wife Cookie; two grandsons: Shannon and wife Deleen, and Shane and wife Janeene; four grandsons: Hunter, Logan, Jagger, and Cash; and two step daughters: Emily and Elizabeth; one great niece Tamera Freeman; and one great nephew Sean Faubion.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 30, 2011 at Lakeview Cemetery with Dr. Bob Scott officiating under the direction of the Winters Funeral Home.
