WELL KNOWN CLARENCE MAN DIES
Clem A. Hamilton of Clarence died Sunday morning at St. Elizabeth's hospital in Hannibal, following an operation for gall stones. The remains were taken to Clarence and funeral services were held at the Catholic church there yesterday and burial was in the Catholic cemetery.
Mr. Hamilton was born near Lakenan 52 years ago and had spent his entire life in this county. About 25 years ago he located in Clarence, where he was engaged in the furniture and undertaking business, and, with the exception of three years spent in Monroe City, where he was engaged in the same business, had spent tho entire time there. He was an active business man in Clarence and will be greatly missed in the business world, as well as in social circles. He is survived by his widow and seven children.

Business Man of Clarence Buried There Yesterday.
Shelbyville, Mo., Sept. 30.—The funeral of Clement A. Hamilton, furniture dealer and undertaker of Clarence, who died in St. Elizabeth's hospital in Hannibal Sunday, following an operation for gall stones, was held at the Catholic church in Clarence yesterday morning at 10 o'clock. Rev. Fr. Mullen of Shelbina officiated.
Mr. Hamilton was born in Monroe county June 28, 1868, and was fifty two years old. He has made his home in Clarence for the past nineteen years with the exception of three years spent in Monroe City where be was in the furniture business. He was first engaged in the implement business at Clarence and later in the furniture and undertaking business. Mr. Hamilton was held in highest esteem as a business man and citizen and stood high in the community. He was a member of the Catholic church and Knights of Columbus.
His wife and seven children, Roy, Aubrey, Joseph, Irene, Sue, Genevieve and Catherine survive him. He is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. J. T. Elliott of Monroe City, Mrs. Will Lister of Hunnewell and Mrs. Anna Patrick of Springfield, Mo., and two brothers, James Hamilton of Clarence and Peter W. Hamilton of near Lakenan.

C. A. Hamilton Passes Away Sunday Morning
C A. Hamilton, who for a number of years has been engaged in the undertaking and furniture business here, passed away Sunday morning at the St Elizabeth hospital at Hannibal. He had been in failing health for several years and a few days ago he became seriously ill, confined at his home. Last Monday he was taken to Hannibal, where he underwent an operation for gall stones. It was thought he was getting along nicely and would probably recover, when, on Saturday night he became worse and the end came Sunday morning at 11:20 o'clock.
His honesty and uprightness of character was always shown thru-out his business dealings. He was sincere and courteous in his manners and this won for him many devoted friends and admirers in and about our little city, who deeply regret his passing away.
Clement A. Hamilton was born June 28, 1868, in Monroe County, died Sunday, Sept 26, 1920. On Feb. 5, 1896, he was united in marriage to Miss Sarah Melton and to this union seven children were born, who with the wife survive. They are: Roy, Aubrey, Irene, James, Sue, Genevieve and Catherine. Beside, the wife and children he leaves two brothers, J. A. Hamilton of this city, P. W. Hamilton of Monroe County, three sisters, Mrs. Anna Patrick of Springfield, Mo.; Mrs. Hattie Lister of Hunnewell; and Mrs. Belle Elliott of Monroe.
Funeral services were conducted this morning (Wed.) at 10 o'clock at the Catholic church by Rev. Father Mullen.—Courier.
