April 30 - (Special) - Joseph Burley died last Thursday evening. The funeral was held at the Methodist Episcopal church yesterday morning and was attended by one of the largest congregations, the church being filled. Mr. Burley was born In Kingston. Canada, In the year 1826 and came to Polk county in the year 1873, when there were very few settlers in the county. He was married to Miss Margaret S. Leonard in July, 1848, and of this union there were seven children, six of whom are still living.

The 1880 Federal Census reports this family resided at Valley, Polk Co., Nebraska. Daughter Rebecca (age 30) and son Thos. (age 23) were at home. His wife, Margaret's father was born in N.Y. state, her mother in England.
