Alta Jacobs, 85, of Kansas City, Kan., passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, February 6, 2011, at Providence Medical Center. She will forever be remembered as a beloved mother, loving grandmother and great grandmother. Alta was born on May 27, 1925, in Buffalo, Mo., to Gus H. and Flossie Amanda (Rose) Hanners. She lived in the Kansas City area all her life. She was a devoted worker for Colgate Palmolive Company. She worked in the manufacturing department for over 40 years, before retiring in 1985. Alta enjoyed cooking, and the times spent with her children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Armour W. Jacobs, infant daughter, Priscilla Elaine Jacobs, brother, Jesse Wayne Rose Hanners and sister, Helen Gray. Survivors include her three daughters, Sandra Jacobs of Kansas City, Kan., Cathy Jacobs Riden and her husband Kent of Liberty, Mo., and Vickie Jacobs Grube and her husband Michael of Tonganoxie, Kan. Left behind to cherish her memory are, her grandson, Brandon Michael Grube, granddaughters, Kimberly Keith, Angela Keith Caspers and her husband Matt, Kelsey Riden and Kaylee Riden, four great granddaughters, Cheyenne Grube, Sierra Grube, Sage Riden and Kenzie Caspers. Alta is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Jaunita Smith, Martha Lambeth and her husband Bud, Donna Noble and her husband Bill, Gus T. Hanners, Kenneth Hanners, Raymond Hanners and his wife Eva, and David Hanners and his wife Ingrid. She will be sadly missed by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at the Chapel Hill- Butler Funeral Home. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
