OBITUARY FROM BROCKUS BIBLE RECORDS
(This obituary was found in the Brockus Bible)

Died near Halfway, MO September 3, 1898, Beecher, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Brockus, aged 1 year, 3 months and 13 days. After two weeks of sickness the Death Angel came and called the little sufferer to its home above.

The funeral services were conducted September 3, at Schofield Chapel, by Rev. E. D. Fortner, after which the remains were laid to rest in Schofield, Cemetery.

Beecher was such a sweet child and was loved by all. He seemed as one of the angels sent to earth to brighten the path of life for a short time and then to return to God in his spotless purity.

It is hard to give him up, but he has gone to a better land to be a shining star to guide us through this life to the heavenly home. It is impossible for us to understand the ways of Providence, and we must feel the Being who guides and directs, careth for us and doeth all things well.

Til hard to break the tender cord, when love has bound the heart,
Tis hard so hard to speak the words, Must we forever part?
Dearest Beecher, we have laid thee, in the peaceful grave's embrace.
But they memory will be cherished, Til we see thy heavenly face.
One by one earth's ties are broken, As we see our love decay;
And the hopes so fondly cherished, Brighten but to pass away.
