Bo was married twice, to Gertrude (Unknown) Hamby (1915-1961) and to Mary (Unknown) Hamby (1925-1985.) He fathered no children.

He moved from Georgia to Florida ca. 1935 to work in the Civilian Conservation Corps (Camp# 453 in Olustee, Baker County.) He lived most of his adult life in Miami, Dade County, Florida, where he worked as a tug boat captain.
