The husband of the late Martha Parham Hamby, he was retired from the Monroe-Walton Mill and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church. He was a 50 year member of the American Legion.
"He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Richard and Nelma Hamby of Social Circle and Phil and Shirley Hamby of Monroe; 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grand-children, nieces and nephews.
