Age 83 years died Thursday evening. November 19 1998 at the Scheurer Hospital in pigeon following a long time illness. He was born March 2 1915 in Williamson MI son of the last Norman Elbert Blakely and Lera Samantha (foght) Blakely. He was married to Lucille Nicholson on February 2, 1941 in Wauseon Ohio. He graduated from Kalamazoo and went to college for ordained as a minister. He served the lord faithfully as a United Brethren and then united Methodist pastor in Lake Odessa, Jasper, Chase, Burnside-Flynn Kilmanagh and Hillman-spratt from 1941 to 1981. He touches the life of people with his kind and gentle manner and wonderful sense of humor. He was a member of the Kimanagh United Methodist church and was a former Rotarian a past member of the farm Bureau and had been a youth director at the Bay shore Camp. He also loves sports. Surviving beside him is his wife Lucille are four daughters. Judy and her husband fritz Faber St Charles Karen Blakely Kilmanagh. Nancy and her husband Glen Spencer Marlette Joan and her husband Craig Douglas. Carrollton. One son Jerry Blakely Owendale. 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Also one sister Hazel Bos of Kalamazoo. One brother Norman Hale Blakely and his wife Betty Blakely of McFarland WI. Also two sisters in laws Joy Blakely of Lake Odessa and Madonna Blakely Lansing MI and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his two brothers Claire Blakely and Herbert and a brother in-law Henry Bos.
The funeral service will take place at 200 pm Sunday Nov 23 1998 at the Kilmanagh United Methodist church Rev Clarence Vanconant and supertentant of the Port Huron District Rev mavin McCallum will officiate with a burial at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sebewaing. Friends may call at the Dinkel-Juenger Funeral home (A Golden Rule Funeral Home) in Sebewaing from 200pm to 900pm on Saturday and on Sunday 1130am. He will lie in state at the church from 12:30pm Sunday unlit the time of service. Those who are going to expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Alz hemers foundation, bayside camp or the Charity of the donor's choice
