John T. "Jack" Coleman, 76, of 318 N. Harpham St. died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Born Nov. 7, 1925, in Isabel Township, Fulton County, to Thomas and Mayme Barrett Coleman, he married Lou Thompson on June 26, 1968. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Michael (and Kitty) of Havana; two daughters, Mrs. Kurt (Peg) Gronau of Lake Bluff and Mrs. Rodney (Juli) Lay of Jacksonville, Fla.; one stepdaughter, Michelle Eaton of Houston; and two sisters, Mrs. Kenneth (Adeline) Bernard of Springfield and Sarah Dress of Ipava.

He was preceded in death by two stepdaughters, one grandson, one sister and two brothers.

He farmed in Pleasant and Isabel townships in Fulton County for many years. He also worked for Freeman United Coal Co. at the Buckheart Mine near Canton, retiring in 1986.

Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
