He retired as a carpenter from Chanute Air Force Base August 31, 1964.
He was a veteran of World War I and had been a laborer at the Bunsenville and Peabody mines. He was a member of the Catlin Masonic Lodge, Am-Vets and the Martin Vutrick American Legion Post 51 of Westville, Illinois.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Josephine Marshall, Mrs. Pauline Morris, Mrs. Agnes Drapek and Mrs. Darlene Hamm a son, Vendel J., two sisters, Mrs. Mary Stark and Mrs. Teresa Shaw, three brothers, John, Joe and Martin, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
