Adolph Amen - 1906-2003

Adolph Amen, 97, of Cheyenne, died Oct. 10 at the Life Care Center.

He was born March 18, 1906, in Russia. He had lived here since 1922. He immigrated to America from the Volga region of Russia at 3 weeks old.

Mr. Amen was a machinist and welder for the Union Pacific Railroad for 49 years.

He is survived by his wife, Amelia Amen of Cheyenne - they celebrated their 76th anniversary on June 12; two sons, James Amen of Cheyenne and Dr. Ralph D. Amen of Winston-Salem, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, JoAnn Amen on Dec. 31, 2002; his parents, Jacob and Elsie Amen; three brothers, Jacob Amen, George Amen and John Amen; and three sisters, Elsie Reider, Margaret Amen and Leta See.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. today at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Robert Garrard officiating.

Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.

Memorials can be sent to First Presbyterian Church Organ Fund.

Services are under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes.
