George was a graduate of Hollis High School in the Class of 1899. He took a two year agriculture course at the New Hampshire State College and was a farmer in Hollis. He inherited the Fletcher family farm at 163 Pepperell Road from his Aunt Elizabeth Fletcher who raised him after his Mother's death shortly after his birth. He served as Hollis Selectman between 1909 and 1911. He was a member of the Hollis Grange . He acted as master of Ceremonies for the Diamond Jubilee in December of 1948.
