Daniel was a son of John P. Jacobs (1802-1871/79) & Sarah McMonigle (1805?-1887).
Daniel married Mary Frances Beard (1843-1930) on May 21, 1865 in Harrison County, Indiana. They had six identified children.
Daniel's remains were actually buried in Shiloh Cemetery in Washington County, Iowa. However, a memorial marker was also erected in Elm Grove Cemetery next to his wife's grave site.
Daniel served in the Civil War - Company B, 53rd Regiment, Indiana Volunteer Infantry.
Daniel and his family moved to Washington County, Iowa from Harrison County, Indiana in October 1868.
