On 15 Oct 1907, James married Lavina Nunley (27 Jul 1890-30 Nov 1951). Lavina was the daughter of William and Margery (Woods) Nunley of Ross County. Born to James and Lavina were John William Sr, Olive Leora, Donald Edward Sr, Helen M, Evert, Bernice, Albert Vernon, and James Oliver Liebe. Evert and Bernice died in infancy.
James was a life-long resident of Ross County and a retired Mead Paper employee.
James departed from life at the Chillicothe Hospital after a two year illness.
