McCOWAN, Thurman G. age 88 of Dayton, died Friday, November 11, 2011. Thurman retired from Harrison Radiator in 1985 after 33 ½ years of employment. He was a WWII Air Force Veteran and was a life member of Am Vets. He was also a member of American Legion Post # 746, Vandalia Senior Citizens and Murlin Heights U.C.C. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Martha L. McCowan, daughter Peggy Ward and her husband Toby of Dayton, 8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren, 1 sister Nonita Kenne of Springboro, 2 brothers Ray of Xenia and Delmer of New Carlisle. Services 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Baker-Hazel & Snider Funeral Home 5555 Philadelphia Dr. at N. Main St. by Rev. Cherryl Styles. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 12 noon until time of services at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in Thurman's memory.
