Margaret "Dot" Barfield was born in Chriesman, Burleson County, Texas, attended Southwestern Business University, and became a secretary with Little River Land and Abstract. Doe was a member of First Baptist Church in Milano. She enjoyed painting, crocheting, fishing and was a great cook. On May 15, 1952, she and J.C. "Jake" Barfield were married in Caldwell, Texas. To this union three children were born. Dot passed away at Central Texas Hospital in Cameron, reaching the age of 78. She was preceded in death by her son and her husband.
