Amos Edward Smith,was born 27 October 1879 near Sprucedale, Jefferson County; a son of Philip and Bertha Elbel Smith.
He moved with his family to Smicksburg in 1888 and later to Dayton, where he lived most of his life.
He was married to Della Mae Fleck, who was a daughter of Ellsworth and Elizabeth Reese Fleck of Smicksburg, on 27 October 1909 in Rossmoyne.
They had these known children:
Gladys Luella (Adamson),
Olive Elene (Watt),
Russell Wayne (KIA in Germany, WWII),
and Sarah Marie (Griffith).
Amos died at the home of his daughter, Gladys Adamson, on 28 August 1963.
He was the last surviving child of Philip Smith;he was predeceased by siblings, H. W., Gustav, Charles, Emma, and Jeff Smith
