Joe Coffey 76 born September 21, 1935 of Thorn Hill, TN., went to be with the Lord Monday, December 12, 2011 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare Systems. He was retired from Universal Furniture after 43 years and a veteran of the US Army; preceded in death by his parents Everett C. and Levi Dalton Coffey; brothers, Thea and Kyle Coffey of Franklin, OH., Lonnie Coffey of Bean Station, TN., Tim and Henry Lee Coffey of Thorn Hill, TN. Survivors include his wife of 56 years Phyllis Coffey of Thorn Hill; daughter, Susan Coffey of Thorn Hill; sons, Joey (Sami) Coffey of Morristown, Kenny (Tina) Coffey of Thorn Hill, and Chris Coffey of the home; adopted sons, Donald (Brenda) Martin of Talbott, Charlie (Candy) Smith of New Market, and Bobby Smith of Strawberry Plains; special grandsons Derek and son Grayson Smith of Jefferson City, Justin Coffey of Bean Station, Cody Coffey of Thorn Hill, Westley Ajay Coffey and step-granddaughter Courtney of Tazewell, TN.; sister Nellie and A.B. Dalton of Thorn Hill; brother, Ricky Steve Coffey of Morristown; special friend Trey Allen Harville; several nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 15, 2011 in the chapel of Mayes Family Services, Downtown with Rev. Curtis Reed and Rev. Barnett Vaughn officiating; interment to follow in Rucker Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Mayes Family Services, Downtown Chapel. Arrangements by Mayes Family Services of Morristown, Downtown Chapel.
