NEVILS, Ga. - Mr. Jasper Wiseman Davis, age 86, died Thursday at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility. The Bryan County native was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He was employed by the Local Boilermakers #26 for 55 years. Mr. Davis was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheri Lynn Davis; his parents, Hampton Wiseman and Lila Bean Davis; a brother, Jake Davis; and a sister, Clennie Moore.
Surviving is his wife of 45 years, Vivian Nesmith Davis of Nevils; a son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan "Jody" and Kim Davis of Nevils; two grandchildren, Harley Davis and Ty Davis of Nevils; and three sisters, Maddie Cannon of Charleston, S.C., Ann Young and Margaret Fennel, both of Richmond Hill. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be Friday from 5-8 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank Morris officiating. Interment will be in the Deloach's Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Joel Flake, Tracy Nesmith, Jamie Dyal, Wrence Beasley, Thomas Rushing and Ed White.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Boilermakers Local 26.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, GA 30459.
