Betty J. Smith, 85, of Allentown, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2009, in Cedarbrook, Fountain Hill Annex. She was the wife of Carl C. Smith. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in May 2009. Born in Alburtis, she was a daughter of the late George W. and Alice (Hilbert) Bortz. Betty was a housekeeper in the Allentown area for many years. Previously, she was a shipper for Bonnie Forge in Allentown. She was a member of Cedar Crest Bible Fellowship Church, Salisbury Township, where she was a member of the Prayer Circle Group. Survivors: Husband; daughters, Constance R. and her husband Frank J. Wieder of Allentown, Cindy J. and her husband Matthew Kranyak of Texas; sons, Terry C. and his wife Barbara A. Smith of Easton, John C. Smith of Fleetwood; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter Linda T. Smith, sisters Annabel Bortz and Cathryn Adams, brothers Edwin and John, step-brothers Billy and Aaron Seaser, half-brothers George and Clarence Bortz.
