Bortz was a welder for Mack Trucks Inc. for 38 years before retiring in 1979.
Born in Alburtis, he was a son of the late George W. and Alice M. (Hilbert) Bortz.
He was a member of Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, Allentown.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving with his widow are a daughter, Anita L., wife of Robert E. Dougherty Jr. of Germansville; two brothers, Edwin of Hickory, N.C., and George of Boyertown; three sisters, Annabel Bortz and Mrs. Catherine Adams, both of Alliance, Ohio, and Betty, wife of Carl Smith of Allentown; two stepbrothers, Aaron Seaser of Coplay and William Seaser of Coopersburg, and three grandchildren.
Ser vices will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Werley-Knopp Funeral Home, 46 E. Susquehanna St., Allentown. A calling hour will precede the services.
